About the Artists

Thomas Moberg is a painter and metalsmith living in Lansing, Michigan, where he creates work that explores the intersection of politics and the environment in the American Midwest. He received his BFA in 2D visual art from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in 2018, after which he returned home to be the caretaker for his terminally ill father, and underwent a three year apprenticeship as a goldsmith and jewelry designer at his family’s shop, the Northwoods Goldsmith. Thomas has had multiple exhibitions with the Center for the Visual Arts in Wausau, WI, and has been an artist-in-residence with Rising Sand Organics in Custer, WI, The Heist in Ripon, WI, and Everwood Farmstead in Glenwood, WI. 

In 2023, Thomas helped build the community jewelry studios at the Iowa City Fab Lab, and was invited the following year to be a guest lecturer at the University of Iowa, Jewelry and Metals Department by Professor Kee-Ho Yuen. Thomas has been a returning artist in the annual Paint Grand Traverse plein air competition in Traverse City, MI each year since 2023. His work was most recently exhibited at Artlink Contemporary Gallery in Fort Wayne Indiana, and the Yellowstone Art Museum, in Billings, MT.

Jamie Weinfurter is an Assistant Professor-Fixed Term at Michigan State University. She is currently researching discarded household objects, rebuilding them to celebrate queer homemaking and the “little things” in life, while exposing the negative effects of consumer culture, unsustainable materialism, and discredited disability in American capitalistic systems of societal value. She earned an MFA and MA degrees in Sculpture & Intermedia from the University of Iowa and a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

She has participated in numerous exhibitions across the US and Canada. She has exhibited public sculptures in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska, Colorado, and Florida as a part of national Sculpture Walk events. She has created outdoor sculptures at Franconia Sculpture Park, Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum, Josephine Sculpture Park, Salem Art Works, and a community sculpture with Audubon Elementary School in Dubuque, IA. Jamie has gratefully participated as an artist fellow and Program Assistant at NE SCULPTURE | Gallery Factory in 2020-2021, as an Artist-in-Residence with the KLLCB program in Lincoln, NE, and as a Foundry Session I Artist at Salem Art Works. Jamie recently attended a Winter Residency at Penland School of Craft, and she will be an artist-in-residence at WNC Sculpture Park in 2025.
